8 Week Mindfulness Course

Mindfulness and Mindfulness meditation have become popular buzzwords in our culture. But what's all the fuss about? Scientific research is now highlighting many benefits associated with this ancient eastern practice including:

  • a positive impact on the brain patterns which underlie anxieties, stresses and bad mood. The practice grows grey matter in these areas and soothes parts of the brain that create stress hormones

  • an increase in memory, creativity and attention span

  • reduced likelihood of becoming depressed and in individuals who have experienced depression (most commonly with 3 episodes or more), mindfulness reduces the chance of relapse by almost half

  • reduction in pain perception and the emotional reaction to it. It has also been shown to improve mood and quality of life during challenging medical illnesses, including cancer and multiple sclerosis

  • improved heart and circulatory health

In this 8 week course we will look at how we can enrich our lives by the simple act of paying attention. We explore in depth different mindfulness principles such as working with difficulty and exploring acceptance; creating strong foundations for you to take these principles and embed them into each day that follows. There will be plenty of opportunity for practice and self reflection to ensure experiential learning. The course will also include group discussion to learn from each others experiences and understanding. If you are interested, please mail info@harbouryoga.co.uk to register your interest.

About your teacher

Jen began her mindfulness journey in 2015 following a ‘life wobble’. She discovered mindfulness at this time and through practice, love and support from her friends and family, bounced back nicely! With a strong will to help others find their space and freedom in life, she trained to become a mindfulness teacher in 2017 with Shamash Alidina, one of the UK’s most well-known mindfulness teachers, public speaker and one of the 115 global Fellow Facebook Community Leaders. Jen also has a developing interest in Buddhism through seeking the roots of mindfulness and meditation practice
